MRC Attends 2022 Texas Annual Conference

June 14, 2022

President and CEO, Alan Brown, was invited to address the crowd at the 2022 Texas Annual Conference hosted in Houston. Brown shared an update on Methodist Retirement Communities’ ministry to older adults across the State of Texas.

Brown began by reminding the audience of the significance of this anniversary year, as the organization celebrates over 60 years since opening the first location in Galveston in 1962. The Texas   Annual Conference (TAC) envisioned this ministry  when they chartered the “Methodist Home for Older People,” on April 7th, 1958 after recognizing the growing need to minister to older adults through housing and specialized care.

One of the most significant components of this ministry has always been the Resident Covenant Fund which provides charitable support to residents in need. Brown shared a special thank you to TAC churches as they are among the primary contributors to this fund. Each year, the TAC partners with MRC to hold a Mother’s Day Offering with over 56 churches participating in 2021. Brown also shared a bit about the impact of these gifts, explaining that over $2.4 million was provided to MRC residents in need in the previous year.

Todd Partin, Vice President of Philanthropy, shared information with TAC church leaders about how their congregation can make a difference through regular financial support, as well as volunteerism.

Matthew Currie, Vice President of Operations, and Jill Janes, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, met with conference attendees to share information on MRC’s services.
