Let’s Celebrate!

This is a special year for Methodist Retirement Communities as we celebrate 60 years of honoring and serving older adults as an expression of Christ’s love. What began as just a dream among a few in the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, has grown into a ministry that will soon be serving over 2000 residents with over 1000 employees in the state of Texas.  

Over the years, we have never wavered from our mission and commitment to serve those with limited or no resources.  Some plan for retirement and simply outlive their resources.  Some may be living in our low-income apartments and need additional levels of care.  Some simply don’t have the resources for the care they need.  

That’s when the MRC Covenant Fund fills the gap between cost of care and what residents are actually able to afford on their own.  Last year, MRC provided $2.4 million in benevolent care and that need will continue to increase this year.  

Churches and friends across the Texas Annual Conference have consistently honored the older adults served by MRC with gifts benefiting the Covenant Fund on or around Mother’s Day. As we approach this special holiday, would you consider celebrating our 60th Anniversary with a gift.

In 2021, $60 was the average cost of support needed each day for each resident receiving Covenant Fund assistance.  Your donation of $60 fills the gap for one resident for One More Day.  Maybe your church or a group you belong to would consider filling the gap for a week ($420) or a month ($1,800).  Regardless of the size of the gift, each gift matters in making a difference in the life of an older adult.
