Edgewater, MRC's beachfront community on Galveston's historic Seawall, provides residents with a "high-rise resort" lifestyle at Moody House, a residential living facility overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The new Moody House, completed in 1998, replaced the original building that had served seniors for over 35 years. As the first Methodist-related retirement community in the Texas Conference, the campus began serving seniors in 1962.

Edgewater's staff has been recognized numerous times with statewide honors by the Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging for Nurse of the Year, Certified Nursing Assistant, Dietary Services, Pastoral Care Programs, and Meals on Wheels Program.

The Edgewater campus consists of two facilities:

Moody House

Residential living in an elegant high-rise apartment building, offering its residents:

  • private & restaurant-style dining
  • 24-hour safety monitors
  • transportation to doctors & shopping
  • on-site dental clinic
  • gift shop & beauty/barber shop
  • recreational programs, activities, & field trips
  • an all-faith chapel & pastoral care program

Turner Geriatric Center

Health Care for those in need of 24-hour nursing assistance and a specially designed care unit.

Quality Staffing

Quality staffing and administration, as well as quality care, are always a priority at Edgewater and all MRC facilities. In addition to exceeding state licensing standards, MRC campuses are routinely recognized with nursing and program awards from the Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, the state association for not-for-profit retirement communities.

These ratings and awards reflect the quality management and administration that is committed to maintaining the best of care and services for seniors. They are a clear indication of what can be achieved when staff, residents, volunteers, and families work together to provide continuing care and housing in a dignified Christian setting.

Edgewater is located at:
2228 Seawall Blvd, Galveston, TX 77550.
