The MRC Foundation (formerly called United Methodist Senior Services Foundation) is an IRS qualified 501(c)3 charitable organization committed to life enriching programs, services, activities, care and housing for senior adults, honoring the sacredness of each individual.

Our Covenant

Through its covenant relationship with the Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church, the family of Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC) serves senior adults in the Wesleyan tradition of Christian faith and wholeness, since 1962.  Our covenant continues, and MRC continues to meet the increasing need for ministry to senior adults.

Integrity of Mission

The MRC Foundation is a supporting, not-for-profit organization of MRC and each of its affiliates, focusing on developing sustainable funding to support the mission, vision, core values, and charitable purposes of MRC.

The Foundation's mission is to help to ensure excellence in quality of life programs, services, care and housing for both current and future residents of MRC.  The Foundation encourages gifts and financial support for benevolent assistance, program development, and other defined charitable purposes within the scope of the MRC mission.  High priority is placed on accountability and appropriate practices which engender the trust and confidence of those we serve and our donors.

Partnerships to Develop Resources

The Foundation focuses on increasing awareness and cultivating philanthropic resources of time, treasure, and talent to create an abundance of well-managed funds to support program development, benevolent care, and partnerships with other institutions to advance senior care.  Thanks to medical science and improved lifestyles, people are living longer and some outlive their resources.  More than 70% of all Texas nursing home residents have exhausted their personal funds, and must rely predominately on Medicaid programs to meet their life needs.  Current Medicaid funding from the state falls short of covering the cost.  Texas ranks next to last in providing help.  MRC facilities are not exempt.  Many of our skilled nursing residents require financial assistance.

In 2009, about 10% of MRC’s residents were in receipt of some level of benevolent care assistance with a need totaling almost a million dollars.
